Where it all started!

This is where it all started. 

When we found the home we would eventually build, my wife told me she wanted her own office, similar to one of the model homes. Of course, like any good husband, I started getting quotes and ideas from her based on her preferences.

I received all the quotes I had requested, and like any intelligent husband, I immediately started looking into how much it would cost to build the office myself! It was cheaper to make it myself – in a unique way. 

Many folks tend to believe doing something yourself is “cheaper.” In some instances, that might be the case, but when it comes to technical, electrical, or mechanical applications, the process of making can often be far more costly. If not from the process of making, then certainly from the process of fixing. However, what makes it more cost-effective is the next thing I’ll build and the something after that. With each build, it will get better – I will get better.

I did build my wife’s office desk with shelves, a shiplap backsplash, and even a small cabinet to boot a bit cheaper than what I could’ve paid someone else to build for me, but only because I’ve invested in the process and continued to build.
